Taking a break from telling the story of the heart attack event.  Thought you might want to see a photo of a necklace I made to start conversations about heart disease.  I think that it’s one of the most important conversations I can have with people right now.  I don’t look like a heart attack victim or survivor.  The disease is so insidious.

What do you think? Rubies, sterling silver chain, and an anatomically correct heart in sterling silver.  I love it.  A couple people thought it was creepy until I told them the story.  And I think I’d like to start the line of Heart Matters Jewelry with this piece.  A reminder to everyone that this heavy lifting piece of machinery is what keeps us going every day.  If we don’t understand how to keep it going, it will stop.  Suddenly.  And sometimes without warning.  Frankly, even many doctors don’t understand it very well.

If you’re interested in learning more about your heart and how to keep it healthier, here’s a short list of books:

The Great Cholesterol Myth by Stephen Sinatra and Jonny Bowden

Eat Your Medicine by Dr. Mark Hyman (he also has a great recipe book)

The Blood Sugar Solution Book by Dr. Mark Hyman

Clean by Alejandro Junger

There were eye opening facts and figures in there that none of my doctors knew or shared.  They seemed to be satisfied with the typical stuff of top 5 how to care for you heart propaganda.  Which didn’t help me or save my heart from the trauma.

Read one of the books and save your heart.  Or the heart of a friend.
